> Which ESD clothing is best for me?

The selection of ESD clothing is often specified by internal company employees, ESD officers or ESD coordinators. There is ESD workwear that can be worn over personal clothing. These include typical ESD work coats or ESD jackets with long sleeves. These garments effectively cover personal clothing and are appropriate where employees only spend part of their time in ESD protection areas (EPA). However, anyone who spends the whole day in an EPA (ESD protection area) will certainly prefer a different approach and replace their own clothing with comprehensive ESD protective clothing.

There is a wide range of fashionable ESD T-shirts, comfortable ESD polo shirts and cosy ESD sweatshirts available for this purpose.

> Wearing ESD workwear correctly – but how?

ESD clothing should be close-fitting and worn over normal clothing or underwear, covering the entire body. Work coats and jackets should be closed and no personal clothing should be visible.

Of course, it is also possible to replace all personal clothing with ESD protective clothing. There is a wide range of garments available that make this possible. In this case, pure cotton underwear is recommended.

> What makes good ESD clothing?

Good ESD workwear must be dissipative, meaning that it must not become electrostatically charged when moved or touched. Cotton is a very suitable fibre for this purpose. In addition to other excellent properties, cotton also has dissipative characteristics. For even better protection, conductive carbon fibres are woven into the fabric to absorb any charges and distribute them evenly. This prevents sudden (hard) discharges and greatly increases ESD safety. Carbon fibres are break-proof and remain functional even after many washes.

In addition, the fabric is much more comfortable to wear as it does not scratch or chafe. The typical dissipative resistance of 10⁵ - 10⁷ ohms meets the ESD standards for ESD clothing, so you are on the safe side here too.& nbsp;
