ESD Measuring Equipment: Standards-Compliant Testing for Your EPA
An EPA is only as reliable as its proven effectiveness. DIN EN 61340-5-1 requires that ESD protective measures are not only put in place but also regularly verified and documented. With the right ESD measuring equipment, you verify flooring, work surfaces, grounding systems, personnel grounding and ionization in your facility, and detect deviations before they lead to component damage.
Resistance, Field Strength and Personnel Grounding
Resistance measurements form the basis of every test. With a teraohmmeter, you determine surface resistances and resistances to ground of table coverings, floors, chairs and transport equipment. Electrostatic field meters detect electrostatic fields and show where insulating materials become charged. The walking test evaluates the system of person, footwear and flooring based on the body voltage generated while walking, complementing the pure resistance measurement with a practical test.
Ionization, Discharge and Ambient Conditions
Where ionizers are used, you demonstrate their effectiveness with a CPM (Charged Plate Monitor). It measures decay time and offset voltage and provides the basis for documentation and maintenance intervals. Measuring devices for recording discharges help identify critical process steps. Humidity significantly influences charging behavior, which is why sensors and humidity meters help monitor ambient conditions. Dedicated test equipment is available for checking the grounding function of sockets and other connections at the workstation.
