In areas with electrostatically sensitive components (ESDS), waste bins and wastepaper baskets made of electrically conductive material are a necessary part of a standard-compliant ESD control programme.

Containers made of insulating plastics can store electrostatic charges and lead to uncontrolled electrostatic discharges (ESD) upon contact or proximity.

ESD-compliant waste bins enable defined dissipation of charges to earth potential and support compliance with IEC 61340-5-1 specifications. They thus contribute to reducing electrostatic hazards in production and development areas of electronics manufacturing.
