Shielding Bags for Safe Transport and Storage

A shielding bag protects electronic assemblies from electrostatic discharge and, in addition, from external electrostatic fields. The metallized layer acts like a Faraday cage: external charges and discharges are routed around the contents of the bag. This makes shielding bags particularly suitable for shipping, storing and transporting sensitive circuit boards, memory modules and assemblies. The requirements for ESD packaging are described in DIN EN 61340-5-3.

Metal-In or Metal-Out: Which Shielding Bag Is Right?

The standard Metal-In version is used for most applications. For assemblies with special requirements, for example when a battery is mounted on the board, the special Metal-Out version is recommended. If you are unsure which shielding bag suits your assemblies, we are happy to advise you.
